Laboratory Technician

  • Reporting to: Laboratory Manager
  • Primary Location: Aldford (Chester, Cheshire)

  • Working Hours: Full time, working 36 hours per week on a rotating 3 week 8-hour shift pattern, with shift times to cover 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am (night shifts exclude Friday nights).
  • Type: Permanent
  • Benefits: £18,200 per annum. Once training has been successfully completed there will be increments that will increase to £20,284 per annum.21 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, rising to 23 days after one year of employment and 25 after 2 years.

So, what will the role of Laboratory Technician entail?

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, as a Laboratory Technician your duties will include although not be limited to; the preparation, operation and maintenance of production flow cytometry sorters; semen assessment, processing and freezing; and record keeping.

  • A full driving licence and own transport are essential

Experience of using laboratory equipment, knowledge of sperm and AI biology, flow cytometry, and an understanding of key semen sorting factors would be highly advantageous.
