Your role as a Junior Data Analyst:
You’ll be supported in utilising your database management and data analysis skills, enabling you to take responsibility for the maintenance and development of our genetics database.
You will be responsible for coordinating data from the Beef and Dairy networks within our industry as well as managing data within a SQL database. Your role will involve running scripts within SQL and R, and communicating accurate output to key stakeholders, including our Sales force and other departments, our Head Office based in the USA, and 3rd party industry partners. You will also be required to produce reports as part of a company-wide genetic audit service.
You’ll work alongside the Genetics Team to coordinate Precision DNA (Cogent’s genomic testing service), and to deliver genomic testing results. As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll also communicate with the wider business to identify data sources that could add value, as well as helping to implement strategies of collecting and storing data to streamline processes.
You’ll work from the Cogent head office in Tattenhall near Chester, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm.
What will I need to be considered for this Junior Data Analyst role?
- A basic understanding (gained through studies or work experience) of database queries and data management
· Experience of coding languages, ideally SQL and / or R
· Be confident with data analysis / cleansing techniques to produce concise, informative reports
· IT literacy with great knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
· Be a confident and strong communicator
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical and process driven mindset, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
