Mr Oktay Saparca and Mrs Saadet Saparca are proud to be Cogent’s number one distributor. Their aim is to increase sales this year and hold the number one position.
In May Bio-Mega of Turkey was presented a well deserved award for being Cogent’s number one distributor in 2009-2010. The Istanbul, based company owned by Mr Oktay Saparca and Mrs Saadet Saparca sold over 100,000 straws in the previous financial year which included an increasingly significant amount of Cogent Sexed & Beef Semen. The most popular bull in Turkey this year was Cogent Strider, a Morty son from the American Scant family. Strider transmits a lot of milk with very good type figures, which is what Turkish farmers are looking for.
Cogent is delighted to be working with Bio-Mega and looks forward to building a sustainable long term relationship further strengthening Bio-Mega and Cogent’s position and commitment to the Turkish Market.

We have 550 cows in total and have used Cogent Sexed Semen on heifers since November 2006. The first bull we used was Crichel Principal, and later we moved on to Shaker, Lucente and Phil. Now we are serving with Dictator and D.T. Forbidden.
Sexed semen is used for the first and second insemination. We are satisfied with the pregnancy rates and had more than 91% heifer calves. This will help us to raise the cow numbers and it also enables us to practise a stronger selection amongst the cows.

On our farm we have a total of 1700 head including 860 cows. We are currently milking 700 with a daily average of 29kgs of milk at 4.5% fat and 3.62% protein with a rolling herd average of 9400kgs. Last year we started to use Cogent Sexed Semen and we are very pleased with the results. On the last batch of 27 heifers we inseminated just before stopping serving to avoid the hottest period of the year, we obtained 24 pregnancies. They were synchronized using
the Double-Ovsynch method.
Bulls we have used so far include Shaker,
Retinue-Red and Baileys Red Rock. We are
planning to use Shaker again and also his son Mordor.
In Pakistan, Cogent is working with the Apex Corporation to deliver reliable British Genetics to the local farmers. Apex Corporation is putting a lot of energy into the marketing of Cogent products, and one of their tools is the use of billboards near some of the cities. The picture shows a Cogent billboard near Sargodha City.
Mr Muhammad Alamgir, senior executive of the Apex Corporation, receives a lot of positive feedback from his customers about the offspring of Cogent bulls.
Recently he heard particularly good reports about the offspring of Cogent Azure, a promising O Man son who was sold as a super sampler in Pakistan, and will see his first proof in August. Reports on Azure’s first milking daughters in the UK are also very positive. The picture shows an Azure daughter out of a Sahiwal cow,
a local breed from the Punjab region.
The Belgian Blue cross to improve the beef quality seems to work really well on the native cattle in Pakistan. Below are some pictures of Belgian Blue crossbred calves.
